Let me start it offHalo Combat Evolved- May not have been the first to do these things, but surely popularized it and influenced other games to do it. * Two Weapons Only- Being able to carry only two weapons really cahgned the gameplay a lot whether you agree or not. It gave games balance, such as now you can't be carrying a sniper rifle, rocket, launcher, or something else all at once, but must choose the right strategy depending on your position. * Shield Regenerator- I know other games did this, but come on, most of you know that BECAUSE of Halo, many other FPS adopted this featureHalf Life 2 *Story Telling In-Game- The storyline for Half Life was unbelieable thnaks to it telling during which you are IN the game rather than a cut sceneResident Evil 4*Over the shoulder view- Thanks to this game perfection of the over the shoulder view, countless other spawn was given birth. Games such as Gears of War and Dark Sector Can you name anymore?10 Years From Now...We Look Back...Most ...
Ocarina of Time?edit: An I still think SM64 will be pretty damn influential.10 Years From Now...We Look Back...Most ...
Pong, OMGZ!!111 everyone copied off of themz!
Street Fighter 3: Thrid Strike.
Super Mario Galaxy.
You do know there were games before Halo that only allowed two weapons to be carried right?
MGS Series as a whole, took story telling to a new level.
SM64 hands down...
i hate recharging shields
When games finally grow up and the industry sees that evoking ''complex emotions'' through the medium is an art form, then will people see ICO as the truly ground breaking game it is.Until then it will always be remembered as that game that made you feel something, but you don't know quite what.

MGS did that on the PS1.
MGS and FF7.

MGS did that on the PS1.[/QUOTE]Sorry I truly believe ICO was the first game where the relationship was at the heart of the game. The game was about the relationship between Ico and Yorda. MGS was and still is an action-espionage game at its heart. Yes it may have a great story telling component to it, but the emotion is not the main driver of the gameplay. And just for the record there were plenty of games even before MGS that blended story telling and emotion into a compelling mixture, play FFIV and you'll see.
uh...I'm sure 10 years from now, people would still look at games like Civilization 2, X-COM, or Doom as the most influential games, rather than Halo or RE4. Heck, the in game scripted events storytelling started with the original Half Life instead of Half Life 2.
Besides what you've said, Super Mario Galaxy, OoT, SM64. Theres so many games coming out with potential to be really really good too like LBP and MGS4 that people might look back at in 10 years time.
I hate to say it because im not a fan of it, but imo it will be wow.
StarcraftGoldeneye and Perfect DarkHalf life*Two Weapons Only- Being able to carry only two weapons really cahgned the gameplay a lot whether you agree or not. SM64 will still be recognized as the father of 3D gaming
Mass Effect- The size and scope of this game are simply amazing. It took the best parts of an RPG (The excellent storytelling, customization, leveling up, special abilities etc...)And the best elements of a TPS ( intense, real-time gun battles, a cover system, awesome weapons and upgrades etc..). The amount of detail to not only include a few systems to explore but an entire galaxy in which you can land on/survey countless planets. Theres too much to say about this game, if you are a fan of gaming at all, you need to play this game. The GTA Franchise- Wherever the franchise is ten years from now, we will remember it from its humble beginnings as a top-down 2d free roamer, to GTA III on ps2, a game which revolutionized gaming in general with a cinematic,Story driven, sandbox crime drama:And most likely what we are abou to witness on APR. 29th. Rockstar has always delivered some of the best games and for that, I feel that thet will be remembered forever. (hopefuly EA doesn't buy out T2 *crosses fingers*)Mario- Well, he'll probably still be starring in games but after all this time, we can't help but speak about how influential all nintendo games are for that matter, in respect to gaming.WOW- theres like a bilion people playing this game...right now. Need I say more?Halo 3- Not at all for what it was as a game, but for how much the damn thing sold and the massive craze about it.
