Well, all apologies if this thread has been made before, because I know how angry it apparently makes people when a thread is posted twice, but I just thought it was interesting/scary.http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10144882%26postcount=1Apparently Game Informer speculates that EA will release a console in/around 2010. How freaking terrible would that be? I mean, seeing as they're looking to purchase Take-Two and all, it's pretty crazy to think that if they made a console, games like GTA would more than likely be exclusive to the platform. (If the deal goes through of course). Anyway, with as much property as they own in the video game market, it's pretty scary to think how much EA actually has. Besides that, I'm not really sure there is enough room for four consoles on the market. Game Informer thinks that EA is waiting to see if the ''PS3 starts to pick up sales'' which I think is stupid, seeing as the PS3 sales are on par with the 360. What did they expect? Wii-type sales? Anyway, just thought this was interesting because EA is pretty powerful in the business, especially considering many people are already crying for a single-system platform.Game Informer predicts EA console???
That would be doomsday.....Game Informer predicts EA console???
They would dominate the market, with an almost monopoly on major sports games for casuals and companies like bioware for the hardcore. If they entered the market im sure either microsoft or sony would drop out.
If EA keeps buying Devs and make a console, so many games would be exclusive and people would be almost forced to buy the console.

Microsoft would buy EA.
That is what I was thinking, which absolutely sucks. WTF could EA offer in a console that the other three dont offer already? Mediocrity? Dont get me wrong, I like EA, I dont hate them like everybody else does, but they are far less than innovative. I hope they dont man, that would suck. Maybe everyone could go without buying EA games for a year and then EA would go out of business with the new console, and stick to making 3rd party games, lol.
if it were true i am not sure how successful it would be. i can say though that right now i don't own a single game made by ea. i can also say that the only game that i may be a bit interested in made by ea is battlefield bad company. i would problaby buy crysis if it made its way to ps3 also.
That's one console i would not care about. I used to like EA in the Genesis/Super NES era. Now i can't stand all the the quick sequels that adds almost nothing new, and in some cases, even less than the previous ones, and in most cases, the shutdown of online servers of games that are not out that much time in the first place (blame the quick sequels that i mentioned). If it was Capcom to release a console, well, i would have to buy one. I love Capcom since the NES age. EA? Meh (yes, i'm not a fan of sports games)
I doubt it. Why would EA do this? They're pretty much sitting on a pedestal in the land of third party devs. Developing their own console would mean they'd be taking a huge risk.

Nintendo is in a league of its own so we don't have to worry about them.
That would be ''ugly'' When you have license of every big sport ligue, NHL, FIFA, NBA, NFL and so on... and there get only exclusives I think it would provoke some huge arguing.

*Dun dun dun*

Microsoft would buy EA.
microsoft couldn't afford them
lol Thats true, they're about as stubborn as eachother, and neither one of 'em would settle on a price. EA would over value, and MS would under value.

This would be the death of gaming as far as I'm concerned... EA loves to nickel and dime people to death by making half assed games and then releasing thousands of expansions for the game like the sims they also like making mediocre games, especially sports that make lots of money and if they monopolize the gaming industry this would only magnify 10 fold. EA is all about making money they don't care about pushing gaming forward with innovative games. The day EA monopolizes gaming will be the day I stop playing games... How sad...
