They will all be one in the same.Whats Next in video games
8 Parallel Processors
1 Terabyte solid state storage (flash drives)

The components (like the CPU and GPU) all have temporal spatial engines that allow them to reconfigure themselves to meet with updating standards ;)

It'll be $50 and games will be $10.

Rehash old ideas and claim to be innovative with more hype and better commercial groups.... a new graphic card, a larger harddrive, a new controller, and maybe a new disc driver.....
What I see happening with the new Nintendo system is that they will upgrade the graphics up to the point of the XBOX360/PS3's level of graphics. They will add a new gimicky controller. And continue as planned with the massive overload of mini games/shovelware and the same old zelda/mario games.
Seriously, though...A quad or octo-core processor isn't outside the realm of possibility. Intel plans a desktop octo by the end of '09, and the consoles aren't due until at least late 2010.2GB RAM should definitely be a minimum. By 2010, 4GB would be preferable and probably quite affordable.4x BluRay will probably be standard across all platforms, which should alleviate transfer rate concerns (a 4x BluRay would be faster than just about any DVD drive). As for the GPU...well, a lot of that will depend on the nVidia and ATI/AMD. Their constant one-upmanship will keep the waters there quite muddy. With digital distribution an increasing presence, internal hard drives should be standard: preferably ones with a capacity of at least 320 or even 500GB. To alleviate concerns of space and backup, the ability to offload game data to external hard drives should be allowed. Concerns about transfers and so on can be addressed with the same DRM techniques used in iTunes and Steam.
