50gig for MGS4...get real!

Sure its happening, but one can't help but wonder the fact that since MGS is huge on the PLAYSTATION platform and moved many copies, doesn't anyone else think, Hideo feels the need to play hero and try and force this, to make sony seem right? coming from 9 gigs with PS2 titles and saying 50 gig isn't enough is hilarious and total BS. While his a respected dev and intelligent, that doesn't mean everything he says is TRUE.That being said, most of the game will be uncompressed taking up chunks of data, EXPECIALLY AUDIO....all this doesn't make a game sell better, and telling gamers that its a HUGE GAME won't change many people opinion regarding the issue of MORE SPACE IS BETTER, people arn't stupid. BTW, don't think this is a hate respone to MGS4, i love the series and can't wait for the game, but i feel this is just OVERKILL!50gig for MGS4...get real!
Publicity.
True, but many actually buy into it....

Theres nothing speical about the game that it needs unlimited features, specs to truly unveil a MGS game. MGS1 2 and 3 were all huge and a success.
you seem to ignore all the possible things you could do in the mgs and by that i mean the different actions and reactions of the enemies, the areas, the cutscenes the extras the weapons which were also incredibily numerous. for instance i own gears of war on pc and it occupies almost 10GB of space (it's a great game and all i can't bash the game i really love it) but you dont have NEARLY as much different actions / weapons / cutscenes / possibilities as mgs 3 or even 2, which doesnt make the game worse or better just different so i think if a game like gears of war needs 10 GB a game like mgs4 can easily end up using 50 GB
So you think that Kojima is actually lying and that this is just some publicity stunt ? Clearly, you don't **** about him.Sure, the game may not be 5000 hours long and most of its size comes from audio effects, so what ? It's still something to be excited about. :

This just makes me remember back in the day when I thought Diablo II's nearly 2gig install was ridiculously huge. Now it's nothing. Oh how time changes these things

Marketing. I dont buy into it either. We'll find out sooner or later. I'm still getting the game though. I dont care how big it is as long as its good.

PS2 launch titles didn't exactly stuff DVD9, but then came GTA: San Andreas and the like. Its not difficult to understand, its called future-proofing. And its no coicidence that the two most successful consoles of all time (PS1, PS2) were both 'future proofed'.
i know kojima might of used alot of uncompressed audio but stil 50gb is still a lot

Seriously tho, coming from 9gig than to 50gig saying it isn't enough can't be taken seriously, sad you do.Compression techniques are great option..know why? because the majority of gamers won't hear or see the different and in the end don't care of better audio and uncompressed data, its about gameplay ands story.the fact you compared it to PC, was self ownage.
