...tend to remake or reuse parts of their older games (for lack of a better sentence) if you get what i mean:- Devil May Cry 3 special edition- MGS2: substance- MGS3: subsistence- Ninja Gaiden Black- Ninja Gaiden Sigma- Ninja Gaiden DS (as in it uses the same animations and enemies, although implements an entirely new control scheme which i guess cancels it out.)- Resident Evil Remake- MGS Digital Graphic Novels- Okami remaketheres others im sure but i can't exactly remember.im not bashing the japanese, in fact i probably own more japanese made games than others. I really enjoy the games they make but it just seems to me that when something that theyve created becomes successful, they seem to...not exactly milk but, i cant think of a better word but yeah.Is it just me or do the japanese...
If it ain't broke don't fix it.Is it just me or do the japanese...
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
true say, but i find that the japanese use the same ips more than other developers.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
where is the innovation in that?
If the game is good, what's the problem? The Japanese know how to make their intellectual properties great, even if most of them are sequels.
Well.. I think this is the case for both american and japanese developers..Look at Bioware, all their games (except for mass effect which is a lil different) Has nearly identical gameplay. Turn based system based on D%26D rules. We also have the infamous EA... And well.. there is GTA, Warcraft and Halo, the most selling Western games there are, all 3 franchises that might continue for yet another decade or two. Its the industry as a whole that earns money on making sequels too games they know they will make a profit on. I honestly don't have anything against it, as long as they will get enough resources trying new things aswell...
yeah i guess. but in that list i made, lets take out the sequels. look at the remakes such as ninja gaiden and okami and mgs and dmc special editions. (amazing games btw)
It's just you.
In Japan, they have ''re-releases'', this is to increase sales of the game by offering a cheaper price with a couple of extra features (usually, nothing major). Sometimes, it ends up out-selling the original game (Yakuza: Best Price Edition) or ends up selling terribly (MGS3: Subsistence).
Just you.
Somewhat just you, but I do see what you are saying. Thing is, some of those special editions would be great to have. Such as Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+. Didn't come to the states, and isn't going to. Stupid Nomura... love his work but come on! Just bring it stateside! I want the harder difficulty plus all the rest of the extras!
Just you.
im talking about remakes not sequels...
it seems like the japanese like to recycle content in everything. Movies, tv, games, etc. That's a generalization, but in general, it is true
in other words, they do exactly what film companies do.
Age of Empires 2: Gold Edition
Civilzation 4: Gold Edition
Elder Scrolls 4: GoTY Edition
Fable: The Lost Chapters
etc...
I never noticed but Japan dose do this a lot but oh well no harm I myself dont buy the remakes unless I havent played the original
its a japanese business mentality, the japanese society tends to buy into remakes and new models of certain things, they remake these games and gaming devices to increase sales, if they change the color on a psp, itll increase sales by a hundred thousand in a week, if they add some extra content to a game and add a word on to the end of it, then people will buy into it and sales will go up by thousands for a few weeks, its a sales mentality, if there was no money to be made out of it then they wouldnt do it, and the japanese particular buy into this stuff a lot, this is how i look at it tc
the remakes are usually only the greats though. for instance if a final fantasy 7 remake would come out people would buy it, but on the other hand it was one of the greatest games ever created. many will argue that point.
